Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal Rack, El Musel, Gijón (Spain)
This construction is divided in two modules: the main rack and the jetty rack. Both buildings serve as interconnection platforms, by means of pipes, to the tanks in the Regasification Terminal.
The first one is 404.5 m long and has a span length between columns of 5 m. It has two levels of pipe trays with a total height of 6.40 m above the foundations.
The rack of the jetty is L-shaped, with a length of about 33 m for its short side and 54 m on the other side with a span length between columns of 9 m. It is equipped with only one level of pipe trays measuring a total height of 6.75 m over the foundations.
For the execution of the structures, a grid of beams and columns has been made with rigid hubs mostly. Metal sheets have been embedded into all the beams on their upper side so that pipes are fixed thereto.
All the precast concrete elements have been produced with a minimum cover thickness of 4.5 cm, for environmental reasons.
