Hollow-core Slabs
  • Product description

Lightweight prestressed slab created at the factory using a slide form machine.

  • Types of structure

Use of isostatic and statically indeterminate set-ups.

In one-way spanning slabs with continuity in the supports, large spans can be crossed with reduced depths.

Infinite deck widths, crossing expansion joints with connectors in the compression layer.

Use in floor decks with indirect support in conjunction with beams poured on-site with the same thickness as the deck.

Use as retaining walls for water tanks, earth retaining walls and enclosure walls and load-bearing walls for civil and industrial buildings.

  • Main characteristics
  • Rectangular cross-section with openings lengthwise to lighten them.
  • Depths from 0.16 to 0.50 m.
  • On the underside of the slab, prestressed bonded reinforcing is placed, with no need for passive reinforcement.
  • Standard width of 1.20 m, although there are numerous possibilities for trimming to adapt to floor decks.
  • Primary applications

Ideal section to make one-way spanning slabs of any type.

With very thick slabs, spans of up to 20 meters can be achieved with industrial superloads, using structural continuity supports and/or fixed-end moments. An opportunity to create open-plan spaces.

For cladding, large spans are achieved with small thickness.

To transmit horizontal stress (wind, earth tremors and thrusts of any type) and distribute it amongst the structure elements that must resist them.

Application to underpasses, flat ceilings in small spans and pedestrian footbridges.

  • Construction details

It is possible to incorporate passive reinforcement in the piece.

Grooved hollow cores for continuity of the negative moment.

Grooved hollow cores for creating indirect supports.

Optional edging for feeding installation ducts through.

Oblique cut for irregular surfaces.

Standard isostatic support in inverted T beams or continuously on R beams.

Rigid support of hollow-core slab on walls.

  • Advantages
  • Highly resistant floor deck with reduced weight.
  • Lower floor deck depths when compared to those built on-site.
  • Standardised production with very few errors in the manufacture of the pieces.
